Since This Domain Name of This Site Bears My Name I'll Add a Bit About Me.
I've been married to John for over 30 years. We are proud parents to two young adults, Vanessa and Michael. I am also a proud grandparent to our first grandbaby, Ayden. And yes, being a grandma is everything that it's reported to be. I love being a grandma!
By the way, I may be the first pirate geek in existence. Note the party pirate hat in my picture? This picture was taken at my grandbaby's 1st birthday party, and Yes, I'm a pirate - ARGH! And no, I did not get him his first real computer yet, but I did get him his baby laptop for Christmas. He'll get his first computer in a few years.
I have several college degrees. I started out in the health care industry, and pursued a BS degree in Management, a MS in Business Administration/Hospital Administration, and an MBA. Eventually, I followed my heart and went back to school for education. I earned a BS in Secondary Business Education. Since I've been a teacher, I've taken numerous computer classes and attend Indiana's "Tech Camp" on a regular basis.
I work at Lake Central High School, which is obvious from the links on this site. I've been at Lake Central for 12 years. I teach business and programming courses. All of the courses I taught or am currently teaching have been computer courses. I teach AP Computer Science, C++ Programming, Visual Basic Programming, Personal Financial Responsibility and Digital Communication Tools.
I am also Lake Central's BPA Advisor. I coach a bunch of amazing high school students. These kids are winners. The main thing I take credit for is knowing how to recruit the best students. We've had a steady increase of national level contestants over the past three years. Last year 22 Lake Central students went to the BPA National Conference in Washington, DC. Thirteen of them brought home national awards.
I was in the process of searching for a hosting service so that I could have administration over a site which would be used to host the Lake Central BPA site and the sites created for the annual IT related BPA competitions. That is why the web hosting and domain was such a wonderful gift. As student sites are completed, they'll be posted here and the link will be added. Keep coming back for updates.
